KNOWLEDGE AND INTELLIGENCE

Murugan was interested to know the difference between knowledge and intelligence. Hence, he went and approached his teacher. The teacher in turn directed him to a saint who was sitting below a tree. He also told Murugan that he should ask the saint " how much time will it take to reach the village nearby "?

Murugan was puzzled to hear this from his teacher . Any how he went near by the saint. The saint was closing his eyes .

Murugan to the saint : Swamiji , how much time will it take to reach the village nearby ? .

The saint did not answer . Murugan thought that probably the saint would not heard him properly . Hence , he repeated the question loudly. For, this also there was no response from the saint. He thought that there is no use of asking this saint and he was returning back. He walked through some distance . Then he heard that the saint was calling him to come back.
He again went near the Saint.
Murugan to the saint : Swamiji ,Why did you call me ?
The saint : You asked me how much time will it take to reach the nearby village. It will take about 15 minutes to reach the village nearby .
Murugan : Swamiji, You could have told this earlier . But , will you please
tell me the reason for not telling earlier.

Saint : I have the knowledge of the distance of the nearby village from here. But , I did not have the idea at what speed you are walking ? With my intelligence I could assess your speed of walking ,after you walk through some distance . Once , I assessed your speed of walking I could tell the time to reach the nearby village.

Murugan could clearly understand the difference between knowledge and intelligence.
